This distinctive approach gives their work an overwhelming sense of belonging.

Lance Herbst describes this approach as not being about “deprivation, but about consciousness” designing spaces that help owners connect with their surroundings and enjoy the New Zealand way of life. He goes on to say that “being aware of how much water and electricity you’re using, and filling your day with rituals – like cutting the firewood and going out to catch fish for dinner” are all part of the New Zealand lifestyle - a well designed home can become central to enjoying this.
