New Zealand's Incredible Black Sand Beaches

New Zealand is filled with pristine natural environments, one of the most intriguing and dramatic is the black sand found in a number of beaches scattered across the country. Black sand
is heavy, glossy, and magnetic. It's formed largely from volcanic activity and provides a stunning canvas for photography. The dark tones in the sand helps bring out subtle textures, particularly in low light. In this shot I've used Lightroom to accentuate some of this beautiful detail, it's definitely one of my favourite environments to shoot in.
